PRESS RELEASE
December 21 2009
HAYTON COULTHARD
GREGORY DISTRIBUTION
For nearly 25 years Hayton Coulthard and Gregory Distribution have had a close and beneficial working relationship, which was developed further 10 years ago when Gregory Distribution moved some of its fleet under the control of the Scottish operation.
It has now been agreed to further enhance this relationship by merging the Hayton Coulthard operation with Gregory Distribution’s Scottish operation to create a new joint venture company called Hayton Coulthard Transport Ltd. This company will be owned equally by Hayton Coulthard and GDL (Holdings) Ltd. Both businesses believe that the structure of this new company will create significant opportunities for development in the future.
The new company will operate within the GDL (Holdings) Ltd group of companies and continue to be run from Twynholm under the direction of Duncan Coulthard. Over time the fleet will be rebranded as Hayton Coulthard Transport Ltd, with a strong Scottish image reflecting its roots.
Commenting on the merger, Duncan Coulthard said: “I see the joining together with Gregory Distribution as providing a secure foundation for the future development of Hayton Coulthard; being part of a larger organisation without losing our identity is good news for both customers and staff in Scotland.”
John Gregory added: “With the added resources and management expertise that the wider Gregory Group will provide, we intend to build upon the strong reputation Hayton Coulthard has in Scotland.”
The parties will be progressing the detailed plans for the merger during the next month and expect to complete the arrangements on 1st February 2010. Consultation with the employees concerned at both Hayton Coulthard and Gregory Distribution in Scotland will be ongoing during this period.
